It’s a beautiful day to take your classic car for a joyride, but without properly maintaining your classic car, things could get ugly on the road. To make sure that it doesn’t happen, I’m here with Rick Drury, senior claims specialist at American Modern, who’s going to share some tips with us on preventative classic car maintenance.

Rick, this has been your passion for a long time, hasn’t it?

RICK: Yes it has, I’ve been working on cars since I was a kid, working in my dad’s shop. I’ve been doing this for the last 30+ years.

A lot of the classic car maintenance that people tend to forget about are very minor things that can cause great damage. An example is just a 30 cent piece of hose that busts open, shoots fuel onto the distributor and – boom! – you’ve got a big fire.

Other things that are simple are your wiring, making sure that it’s all tucked up nice and neat and not rusting on the exhaust manifold or the header.

When temperatures raise like they do underneath a hood, things go brittle and they go bad after a while.

Keep up on with that classic car maintenance and replace it when needed, and that will cut down on a lot of losses that we at American Modern.

Thanks Rick! Happy driving, everyone.
