Mercedes 220se Ponton Car Restoration

Restoring classic vehicles is what we do best which is why we have been commissioned to restore this beautiful and rare Mercedes 220se Ponton.

In 1959 the cabriolets and coupes received the 2.2 litre fuel injected power plant which gave them more power which they needed as they are very heavy cars.

The 220SE featured a unitized body/frame construction and fully independent suspension. All models had aluminium heads and overhead camshaft.

An automatic clutch was available with the column-mounted 4 speed manual transmission.

Produced until November 1960 there were only 5371 Ponton coupe and cabriolets built over the four years of production, making it a very rare automobile.

We will be carrying out all bodywork, paintwork, chroming, mechanical and small amount of trim work.

The client was really content with all the work carried out that he wanted us to do additional work.

We removed complete timber dash work and all other timbers inside car, carried out all required repairs to cracked timbers and organised all pieces for french polishing

The finish to the vehicle made a huge difference!

In addition we removed the fuel tank system and sent away to be dipped. upon its return we organised for inside to be re-coated and re-lined

Then it was ready for us to primer and paint in semi gloss black.
